27.2 here. I found I got into a groove of keeping it going straight up and down, but then lost it when it got too fast.

Quote from marzman :Animalls eat the same thing every day and it doesn't seem to harm then. Never heard an animall about his two pieces of fruit or about and never think of the different types of foodgroups

Interesting article on eating like animals:

Weekends are pretty much always good for me; Friday afternoon or evening, anytime morning afternoon or evening on Saturday or Sunday. Weekdays not so good, have class a couple of evenings a week and often meetings etc weekday evenings.

If you find the gym boring, try and find an indoor rock climbing gym. I was doing that for a year or so and got in really good shape, going three times a week for an hour or two. It's a lot more fun and a nice social atmosphere where I go too. That and some cycling had me at 185 - 190lbs (6ft 2in) and fairly toned which I was happy with. After about a year of being depressed, not exercising and not eating well, I'm at 235lbs and really out of shape too. Need to get back into that stuff....!

After a while you'll start to find out which servers always have good, clean racers on, and which aren't so good. Don't worry, it's not all like you've experienced so far!

Good advice so far. One thing I would add is to try the skidpad. Start circling the skidpad around the middle or towards the outside in 2nd gear, get to the limit of grip, then hit the throttle and practice controlling oversteer in there. With the XR GT, I often keep it at full throttle while drifting, as it doesn't have much power. With the GT Turbo, I usually lift off the throttle a bit to avoid spinning, especially at lower speeds. Try and keep roughly in your lane. Once you really have the hang of holding it at the right throttle and steering angle to maintain your course, you should be able to do laps of the thing sideways It's a nice place to practice because there are no bumps to throw you off, and lots of space.

Quote from JTbo :Well, luckily there is this thing called reality, most likely I will never ever get even boat with 20hp Mercruiser in it

Talking of boats and reality....I was out with my Dad in his sailing boat, which has a small diesel engine. We filled up the tank with about $15 of diesel. As the guy next to us finished putting a couple of hundred dollars of petrol into his speedboat, he remarked that he wished it only cost him $15 gas for a day on the boat. He was really pissed when we told him that would last us through the rest of the season!

Nothing beats those for me, but there are quite a few talented movie guys out there!

Your story reminds me of a recent one of mine. I was qualifying in LX6 at Westhill with maybe 10 others, all from the server's team. I came first in quali, and then promptly got kicked

Nice thought, I like the idea of multi-class racing. Hopefully there are enough people interested to make it fun.

Nokia 6015i. Does the trick for me. I have a Virgin pay as you go plan, and I top up $15CAN every three months

Quote from chopaholic :For a "Unfinished" game its not really good. You can buy new production games for that price.

Just wondering what will happen in like s5? Hmm £60 uk pounds. Stupid.

But in it's unfinished state it still has a lot more features and is a lot more fun to play than most finished games.

Quote from ajp71 :Well GPL offers something completely different to LFS, powerful cars with no downforce. They're a handful to drive and far more rewarding and frustrating than LFS in equal measure. They still don't sound bad for single sample engine sounds. Try GPLSO and it suddenly comes alive. GPL has is about the only sim that manages to make 2D objects look awesome, the better GPL tracks are still works of art, although the majority are no where near LFS standard a lot of them have a 'sense of immersion' factor that no modern day sim will ever achieve. GPL is one of the few sim racing experiences where you can genuinely shit yourself. Honestly no other sim experience gets the heart racing like it.

I think that sums up how I feel perfectly! I would often be sweating and exhausted at the end of a GPL race, it was so intense. I don't get that feeling with LFS, however I do enjoy the close racing...

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :An LRF league would be nice.

Yeah, I'd be interested in that too.

Only just saw this thread....I have been looking to get into some league racing for the first time (never really got into it in GPL or LFS so far for some reason...). I'd be interested in a Canadian League if we got enough people together.

Hey, you're welcome to use that. And if you look in the layout database I have another one or two in there I think, you're welcome to use. I am getting back into making new layouts, so if you ever see a new one of mine, feel free to use it. Looking forward to seeing the server and having some online autox racing!

Regarding changing pressure for optimum contact patch...When autocrossing, whether using road or racing tyres, we put chalk at the edge of the tyre down onto the sidewall and then set the tyre pressure low enough that we are going to the edge of the tyre but not onto the sidewall. In my experience, that's how most people set their pressures in autox, and this was also recommended by the designer of the r-compounds I use. A bit different from circuit racing (?) as you're not concerned about rolling resistance, just contact patch and temperature, often on camber limited cars.

Here we go, found the first thread on LFS in RSC from 18th August 2002, in the archives....

http://forum.rscnet.org/archive/index.php?t-39373.html

The first couple of pages are from 2002, then someone bumps it in 2004, and some guy called Bob Smith comes along and asks "Is this dig up an old thread week?" The more things change, the more they stay the same! :P

The new auto updater is fantastic, great addition.

I like the difference in the sound between having the roof up and down in the convertibles! I autocross my Miata and I always have the roof down when I race (without fail), because of course it gives you a much better idea of what's going on. I just feel a lot more connected to what's happening, being able to hear the exhaust note better and get more of a sense of what the tyres are doing.

I'll get some audio sometime soon and get some comparisons of roof up and roof down.
